or maybe not. I'm trapped in apple world. Don't bother telling me to
throw away decades of files because some windows machine ( that won't
run them ) is cheaper.

Not a young man, not interested in taking on something like converting
all my work to some new DAW.

That said, I'm torn between getting a 15 or a 13 inch model. The 13 is
smaller, obviously, and just barely cheaper. Yeah, cheaper because it
has lesser specs / capability. But perhaps lesser is plenty good enough
?

The 15 has a nicer screen. Then again, apple keeps making these things
thinner. At some point that has to make them more fragile. A bigger
screen plus more fragile ... not a good combo. Lemme think, how have my
past mac book pros held up mechanically. Humm ... the first two the
screens failed. The third one I dropped and broke the case, but the
screen was ok. That unit lasted years until the video chip fried. Had
a 17inch one for a while, video chip fried. Bought the one I'm typing
this on, a 15 inch screen. The screen ( the actual lcd ) is
delaminating or something in this one, but it still works as long as
you don't mind the dark squiggly lines on the edges.

The 13 inch screen mbp I have as a backup works fine.

Just to fill out the details, I've owned about 5 imacs, all but one
have either burnt up ... smoke coming out as it died, or the screen
failed, or the video chips failed.

Not a good track record is it ?

Anyway, apple hardware is overpriced ( slightly ) and definately under
designed as far as heat tolerance.

So, a 13 mac book pro for around $2100, or a 15 one at about $2600 ?
Either way, it'll likely be the last laptop I ever buy. The few
hundred dollars difference doesn't matter really, I'll have which ever
until I'm dead probably. I certainly won't be still doing this (
playing out ) in another 10 years, will I ? And if I'm not playing
out I sure as hell don't need a stupid laptop. I'll get a nice macmini
and use that at home. The mini over an Imac in that case because Imacs
are stupid. They overheat and eventually the screens fail. Trust me,
I've owned enough of them.

Not sure. Probably just get the 15 inch mbp. My eyes aren't getting any
younger either.

The Non-FASCIST OS, Linux not only has a WinBlows emulator, but there's also
one called LinApple, for CrApple software.

Never heard of LinApple. will look into that.

doens't matter, I still need a new portable. looking at prices, when I
price COMPARABLY spec'ed machines, the apple's don't cost much more.
Sure, I can buy generic laptops for less, but I won't get the same
level of hardware.

Apples cost a little more, but not a lot. That " little " isn't worth
years of my time converting files. Plus, if I went pc, I'd have to
spend something to get a new DAW. So add that cost to generic hardware
and there's not way it's worth changing.

maybe of others, but not me. too much work and learning invested in Logic.

I'd Love to see all the Fascists/Corporatists DisemPowered by emulation
software that effectively breaks their Monopolistic stranglehold!

That's why I don't like notebook/'laptop' machines - they burn you when you
need extra anything.

Both CrApple and MicroManage Disrespect their customers and I just HATE
that, enough to want them out of my life and my computers!

The right Emulation software would seem to be the answer.
