looking at a Nektar LX61+
I might order one tomorrow, then again, maybe I'll put it off a few
days. Overall it looks nice. The reason to go this route is to get all
the midi control things into one unit. Again, we're playing so much now
that setup and teardown effort and time is an issue. Yesterday, we
finshed the gig at 11pm. We tore down, loaded the van, and were on the
expressway headed home by 11:25 pm. At our regular weekly dance, we
never have more than about 45 minutes to load in, set up, and be ready
to play. So lots of cables and pieces are just trouble. No roadies for
us poor working musicians. Down side, I have to carry my own guitar to
the van. Plus side, I don't have to pay someone to do that for me :-)
The new keyboard stand, that single pole looking thing ( I can't
remember the brand or name, maybe Roland ? ) has been great. It really
cut down the clutter. But even then, I have to get the pa up and
running, set up my keyboard, get my guitar out and tuned, and the same
with the fiddle. Then still have a few minutes to grab a drink before
we start. It's usually pretty close.
Nektar makes pricier units, the P series, but eh, not right now. I am
basically a cheapskate. Want the least expensive unit that will do the
job. Not out to impress anyone with how much my gear cost. That's a
game for young un's and newbies :-)
